1. Doctor on the Edge (닥터 섬보이)
- Release Date: June 1, 2026

The Plot: Based on the hit Kakao webtoon Endurance Doctor by Kim Tae-poong, this series follows Do Ji-ui (played by Lee Jae-wook), a privileged and highly skilled plastic surgeon at a prestigious university hospital. In South Korea, elite medical students can fulfill their mandatory military service by serving as public health doctors. Seeking an easy deployment, Ji-ui’s plans backfire spectacularly when he is assigned to Pyeondong-do—a remote, isolated island that every doctor actively avoids due to its harsh conditions and eerie atmosphere. Traumatized by the sea, Ji-ui is forced to adapt to rural life alongside Yook Ha-ri (Shin Ye-eun), a bright former university hospital nurse who hid away on the island for undisclosed reasons. From day one, unsettling signs and ominous incidents begin to occur.
Why We Are Excited: This marks Lee Jae-wook’s very first role playing a doctor! The unique blend of a cozy, healing slice-of-life romance with an underlying layer of remote island suspense makes Doctor on the Edge a fascinating watch to kick off the summer.
2. Teach You a Lesson (참교육)

- Cast: Kim Mu-yeol, Lee Sung-min, Jin Ki-joo, Pyo Ji-hoon (P.O)
- Genre: Action, Crime, School, Social Drama
- Where to Watch: Netflix
The Plot: Previously known under the working title True Lessons, this gritty action-drama is a live-action adaptation of the famous and bold Naver webtoon Get Schooled by Chae Yong-taek and Han Ga-ram. In a near-future South Korea where school bullying, juvenile delinquency, and the collapse of faculty authority have reached a tipping point, the government passes the Teacher Rights Protection Act. Under this act, they established a ruthless task force called the Educational Rights Protection Agency (ERPA). Enter Na Hwa-jin (Kim Mu-yeol), an ERPA supervisor armed with state-sanctioned immunity. Alongside tough investigator Im Han-rim (Jin Ki-joo), Hwa-jin is deployed to the most chaotic schools to physically dismantle delinquent student hierarchies, protect helpless victims, and root out institutional corruption using highly unconventional, aggressive methods.
Why We Are Excited: Expect heavy action and intense social commentary. This project reunites actors Kim Mu-yeol and Lee Sung-min with director Hong Jong-chan the powerful creative trio behind the critically acclaimed Netflix legal drama Juvenile Justice. If you loved Weak Hero Class 1 or Vigilante, this is your next obsession.
3. See You at Work Tomorrow! (내일도 출근)
- Release Date: June 22, 2026
- Cast: Seo In-guk, Park Ji-hyun, Kang Mi-na
- Genre: Workplace, Romantic Comedy, Satire
- Where to Watch: tvn / TVING (South Korea), Amazon Prime Video (Global)
The Plot: Adapted from the 2020 Kakao webtoon Back to Work! by McQueen Studio (which boasts over 200 million views), this relatable office rom-com tells the story of everyday warriors. Cha Ji-yoon (Park Ji-hyun) is a seventh-year product planner at Saeum Electronics who is completely burnt out by corporate life and has sworn off dating after a painful breakup. She lives strictly for deadlines, efficiency, and the simple joy of an on-the-dot clock out accompanied by fried chicken and beer. Her structured world turns upside down when she is reassigned to work under Kang Si-woo (Seo In-guk), the company’s most avoided department manager. Si-woo is notoriously rigid, blunt, and fiercely disciplined. Despite their icy introduction, an unexpected, healing chemistry begins to spark amidst office politics and heavy corporate rainstorms.
Why We Are Excited: The show carries a heartwarming tagline: A story of people who, despite being worn down and heartbroken, still faithfully clock in the next morning. With Seo In-guk’s signature witty charm and Kross Pictures/Studio Dragon handling production, expect the perfect balance of hilarious workplace satire and heart-fluttering romantic tension.

The Plot: For fans of high-octane espionage webtoons, the wait is over. To his coworkers and neighbors, he is just an ordinary, hard-working corporate manager and a devoted single father. But beneath his humble exterior lies a deadly past as a former elite black-ops agent. When his beloved teenage daughter, Min-ji, suddenly goes missing and he discovers she has been kidnapped by a powerful syndicate, Agent Kim drops the corporate facade. Turning completely merciless, he reactivates his lethal skills and sets off on a destructive path to save his daughter, obliterating anyone and anything that stands in his way.
Why We Are Excited: So Ji-sub returning to a gritty, John Wick-style action thriller is a massive win for fans. Mun-o is a brilliant but failed novelist turned literature professor at a prestigious university, crippled by insecurity and a deep sense of defeat compared to his wildly successful writer friend, Kim Su-hun (Huh Joon-ho). Mun-o lives a life of quiet disgust, reading uninspiring essays from unmotivated students until he reads a submission by Lee Gang (Choi Hyun-wook), an engineering student with a hidden, borderline dangerous literary gift. Fascinated by the boy’s writing, Mun-o takes him under his wing for private lessons. However, as the student’s stories blend reality with fiction, their mentor-student relationship quickly spirals into a dark obsession, manipulation, and psychological chaos.
Why We Are Excited: This marks the historic Netflix project debut for cinematic icon Choi Min-sik (Oldboy), paired alongside the phenomenally talented rising star Choi Hyun-wook (Weak Hero Class 1, Twinkling Watermelon). 6. Fifties Professionals (오십프로)

- Genre: Action, Dark Comedy, Crime, Mystery
- Where to Watch: MBC TV (South Korea), TVING / Viki (Selected Regions)
The Plot: Rounding out our June watchlist is Fifties Professionals (also translated as Fifty Percent), a hilarious yet action-packed series that kicked off on May 22 and will dominate weekend ratings through June. The story centers on three middle-aged men living in quiet, mundane seclusion on the remote Yeongseon Island. Ten years ago, they were top-tier, feared legends in their respective fields: Jeong Ho-myung (Shin Ha-kyun) was an elite black-ops agent currently hiding out as a quiet worker at a Chinese restaurant; Bong Je-soon (Heo Sung-tae) was a ruthless operative who lost his memory; and Kang Beom-ryong (Oh Jung-se) was a notorious mobster. After a mysterious event known as the “Black Pearl” mission ruined their lives a decade ago, a sudden catalyst forces these men in their fifties to dust off their old instincts, confront their creaking joints, and team up to uncover the truth and claim their revenge.
Why We Are Excited: Directed by Han Dong-hwa (Shadow Detective), the series perfectly juxtaposes elite, badass combat skills with the “salty” reality of middle-aged physical struggles. The comedic and chaotic chemistry between Shin Ha-kyun, Oh Jung-se, and Heo Sung-tae is absolute gold.
